Used to be people emailing me, wanting to sponsor or pay me, asked me to come up with a blog post for them.
Now, I've to source around to ask for sponsorships and donations. Even though it's for charity purpose, people are not so willing cos many have not heard of us before. We need to have that "awareness"!
Actually, many of these depend a lot on networking. Family or friends or friend's friends etc, to help push us in. But I'm prepared to face all the rejections lah! Le' sigh. Why so difficult?
Need to come up with something that have strong impact so people will notice about us! Once we have that awareness, everything will be easier. But spreading awareness seems like the hardest part, especially when we have to budget everything on our side.
I ish very stressed leh. Becos of this job, I went to research and read up plenty of articles about donation, fund raising and corporate sponsorship. And I came across this article..."Sponsorship provides a great means of broadening your competitive edge by improving your company's image, prestige and credibility by supporting events that your target market finds attractive. In recent years, corporate sponsorship has become the fastest growing type of marketing in the United States.
Part of this growth can be attributed to the increasing numbers of small and medium-sized businesses involved. Previously, only large businesses could afford to sponsor cause marketing, for instance, as a way of boosting profits as well as establishing goodwill. However, now smaller companies are sponsoring everything from local volleyball and softball teams to fairs, festivals and clean-ups of parks as an effective method of boosting their visibility in their community. Most of these sponsorships help these companies to enhance their public profile relatively cheaply.
Irrespective of the size of the company, however, experts in the field tout a broad spectrum of benefits that can be gained by sponsorship aside from enhancing visibility and image, such as differentiating the company from competitors, helping to develop closer and better relationships with customers, both existing and potential ones, showcasing services and products, and even getting rid of outdated inventory. These experts go on to say that when sponsorships are strategic and well-conceived, they can boost both short-term and long-term sales."
Hanor, why people no understand this leh? I know we're not well known (yet), but I'm determined to make it known lor. Slowly but surely. The first step is always the hardest. We need gain people's trust first.
To be honest, sometimes, I feel so stressed up till I feel like leaving and find a job elsewhere, with the same amount of salary but easier, no need brain job scope. Sorry to say this, but I really don't quite like to approach people to "ask for" things. It's like owing them a favour, on my account. Though it's for charity and I don't gain anything out of it, but most people don't think this way leh.
Stress 死我了!!! :(
